RBQ specialized contractor licence
An RBQ specialized contractor licence carries Schedule II and III subclasses only. The specialized contractor’s guarantor passes the three management exams, one construction work exam per Schedule II subclass and none for Schedule III. Here is what the licence costs and requires in 2026. For now, no construction work exam for this licence is included on RBQexam, and we do not announce a date.

Good to know
- The 13 Schedule III subclasses, for example 7, 8 or 9, need no construction work exam; the management exams still apply.
- For contractors, subclass 16 (electricity) goes through the CMEQ and subclasses 15.1 to 15.5 (including plumbing) through the CMMTQ.
- The bond is $20,000 when the licence has specialized subclasses only. A February 2026 draft would raise it to $30,000; it was still under review on September 26, 2026.
- Adding a subclass later costs $105.27 in change fees (2026 fee), on top of qualifying for that subclass.
- Price of a new specialized contractor licence: $442.26 in duties plus $407.15 in fees, or $849.41 with regular processing (2026 fee). With priority processing, available only without exams or a professional file, the total is $1,256.56 (2026 fee).
